Young Hunger Heroes Spark Change

It’s amazing what a group of young people can do when they come together to support the causes they care about! The Spark Change program, offered through Young Americans Center for Financial Education, allows students to give back to their communities and practice leadership. Food Bank of the Rockies was recently honored with a $500 Spark Change donation from a group of elementary school students at Isabella Bird Community School (IBCS).

The students involved in Dragon Core, a leadership organization at IBCS, researched local nonprofits and conducted in-person interviews with representatives from their favorite organizations. Dragon Core led a school-wide fundraising campaign benefiting three organizations, including Food Bank of the Rockies. The students at Isabella Bird Community chose to help FBR because “our organization strives to make a place for everyone at the table.”

Thanks to all their hard work, Food Bank of the Rockies will be able to provide 2000 meals for people in need. Even the smallest people can make a big difference. On behalf of Food Bank of the Rockies and the people we serve, many thanks to Isabella Bird Community School for helping us fight hunger and feed hope!
