Nationwide is on our side! Food Bank of the Rockies is a grateful grant recipient once again. With Nationwide’s support through a generous grant, we’re able to provide 140,000 meals to hungry families.
This gift will support children like “Farrah”. Farrah attends a school in north east metro Denver where more than 95% of the students receive free and reduced lunch. After school, students can join each other in the cafeteria for a Kids Cafe meal. The day we visited, kids received chicken nuggets, fruit, milk and small bags of baby carrots. The school provides an exchange box for packaged items some children don’t want. Eight little bags of carrots were left at the end of the day. Farrah asked the teacher if she could have them.
“Are you going to eat them all?” asked the teacher.
“I’m going to take them home to my family and share them,” she replied.
Every dollar received turns into four meals for families like Farrah’s. Without the support of generous companies, foundations and individuals, Food Bank of the Rockies couldn’t provide this much needed food.
