We condemn the murders in Atlanta and the anti-Asian sentiments and increase in hate crimes across the country. We mourn the loss of Soon Chung Park, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Yong Ae Yue, Delaina Ashley Yaun, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, and Paul Andre Michels, and our thoughts are with their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with the Asian American community and the entire BIPOC community, because racism, violence, and discrimination have no place in our world.
Food Bank of the Rockies believes that each and every member of our community must be treated equitably for everyone to thrive. We cannot accomplish our mission of answering the challenge of hunger without also centering our work on inclusion and equity. We are committed to working alongside our partners, supporters, and each of you to foster a world where senseless killings are no longer a norm. Elijah McClain, Breonna Taylor, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, George Floyd, Tamir Rice, Alex Nieto, Trayvon Martin, Daunte Wright, and so many more, including the victims of the Atlanta shootings, deserve to be here today. Until there is an end to these gross injustices, we will say their names, remember their lives, and work in their honor to better engage and serve communities of color.
As an organization, we have a long way to go to address these issues and do not have all of the answers. But we are here for the long haul and actively listening, learning, and taking action to foster a more just world where acceptance, respect, empathy, and love are woven into the fabric of our community. We will do better, because we must do better. Thank you for your support in this critical work.
