Food Bank of the Rockies’ mobile pantry program is 100% donor funded. We host mobile pantries throughout the 30 Colorado counties we support as well as the entire state of Wyoming.
Recently, Food Bank of the Rockies was awarded a $10,000 gift from Starbucks to support our Wyoming efforts. These funds will help fund distributions throughout the summer. Hosting mobile pantries across the state allows us to serve communities in River Rock, Hanna, Medicine Bow, Kaycee and Buffalo. We also provide emergency food through mobile pantries when crisis or disaster strikes. Recently, we hosted an emergency mobile pantry in Gillette to support 700 workers and their families affected by mine closures. Plans are underway to support this community with a few more distributions soon.
The flexibility and portability of mobile pantries provides an opportunity for Food Bank of the Rockies to reach communities when and where a little more help is needed. We deliver fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, nonperishable items and sometimes meat and eggs. Need is self-declared and clients choose their items as they move along the line. This program is a lifeline to many, especially those who might not quality for government assistance, yet find themselves struggling to pay for food.
Volunteers help us with set up, distribution and tear-down. Locations are also donated by generous organizations who allow us to use their parking lots. This program is possible because of the generosity of our community. Thank you Starbucks for stepping up to help us feed neighbors in Wyoming this summer. We are grateful and so fortunate to have your support.
