When we launched the Kung Food Fighters Kids Club a couple months back, we had no idea how many amazingly awesome kids would pop out of the wood work. A couple weeks ago, we hosted a private tour for club members and their families, followed by a delicious breakfast provided by our in-house chef. 20 kiddos and their parents joined us to learn about what Food Bank of the Rockies does in the community and how important they are in our society. Ranging from ages 3-18, these kids learned about tangible outlets for giving back to their community.
One of the kids in attendance was the amazing Clark. This soon-to-be 6th grader organized a “Fun Run” in his neighborhood and collected over $1,300 for FBR! How outstanding is that? He created an impressive, larger than life check that will be proudly hung on our gigantic wall of checks. In addition, our friend Derek (who lived in a plexi-glass box on the 16th street mall this past spring to fight childhood homelessness and hunger) joined us to talk to the kids about how important it is to step outside their comfort zones to make a difference in the world.
We’re blessed to have this club as an outlet for working with, educating and empowering kids to see their potential for positive change! If you haven’t signed your kiddos us, you can do so right here.
