Sam’s Club Teams Up with Food Bank of the Rockies to Help Families in Need with Diapers
Sam’s Club is working with Food Bank of the Rockies to help families stock their shelves with more than 1,100 cases of diapers. Nationally the company is partnering with the Feeding America® network of food banks to provide more than 40,000 boxes, or around 5.7 million diapers to families in need throughout the country.
Summer should be a time for carefree fun and cookouts, but the reality is that the 4 out of 5 children who rely on school programs to receive consistent, healthy meals during the school year don’t have the same support during summer. This makes finances even tougher for families with young children.
Babies need between 6 – 12 diapers a day and this comes at a major expense to families struggling to get by. In a recent study by Feeding America, 44% of low income families finding it difficult to afford basic necessities noted that one coping strategy they’ve used is delaying changing a diaper. The same study found that 32% of respondents reused diapers due to economic restraints. Sam’s Club is happy to be able to help alleviate some of this stress for our friends and neighbors in Metro Denver.
Thank you Sam’s Club for helping families in need this summer and for everything you do for Food Bank of the Rockies all year long!
