We’re sharing the following story from a past Facebook post from Denver Public School’s AmeriCorp page. What a cool story from a little girl who used her personal situation to help others! Kids, what can YOU do to use your experiences to help others?
Children’s Advisory Network shared Denver Public Schools AmeriCorps‘s photo.
The Power of One
1st grade student Monserat Arenas, was recently in a car accident. Her booster seat helped save her life, and now she is on a mission to make sure all kids who need car seats or booster seats have one. Car seat manufacturer, Graco, donated 50 car seats to Monserat’s car seat drive. In addition to this, they will match every new car seat we receive at Smith Renaissance School. We would love if you donate new car seats!
Smith Renaissance will also be hosting a Car Seat Safety & Giveaway Night at Smith on Thursday, May 23rd with their partners Safe Kids Denver Metro led by Children’s Hospital Colorado. We will have car seat technicians on hand to ensure the new car seats are properly installed. We are also inviting various children’s safety organizations in the community to participate in a safety fair during the event.
