Feeding America food banks across the country, including Food Bank of the Rockies, faced unprecedented challenges when COVID-19 hit our communities hard.
Food Bank of the Rockies changed our entire distribution model and with our partner agencies, doubled the amount of food we normally distribute to people in need. Many of them are seeking aid for the first time.
We are amazed at the generosity of our supporters, locally, and nationally and deeply grateful for the gift from Jeff Bezos’ COVID-19 Relief fund. This donation made an immediate difference for our partners and the people we help.
The additional funds allowed Food Bank of the Rockies to distribute enough food for more than 450,000 meals across northern Colorado and Wyoming. We were about to provide approximately $300,000 in pass-through support for 282 partner agencies and invest $100,000 to help cover additional expenses in transportation and packing.
This gift made our urgent response possible and provided needed nourishment to our neighbors struggling during this pandemic.
